DEPARTMENT STRENGTH

Department of management studies (BMS) was established in the year 2008. The Programme gives students a wide foundation in topics related to Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management and General Management. 

The Department conducts various workshops, seminars, guest lectures and Industrial visits for the students as well as faculty members. It has active linkages with Industry and Institutions of repute in India and abroad. The students benefit from various internship and placement opportunities created by these linkages.

The course motivates the students to enhance their leadership skills and Interpersonal skills, sports and co-curricular activity participation and to develop their overall personality. It provides students with a vast knowledge of the changing world of management and enables students to adopt an integrated approach towards real-life situations and circumstances.

The Department of management has produced various industry experts and entrepreneurs, who are performing well and are valuable assets of our department.

The Management Club of Vidyalankar School of Information Technology, is a key initiative of BMS department of VSIT. ENACTUS is an association of students pursuing BMS. It acts as a platform for all students to get hands on experience in event management, conducts training sessions from faculties, workshops, guest lectures, seminars, webinars, alumni interactions, etc. to provide industry & functional exposures to the students.ENACTUS provides a learning environment & enhances the skill sets of the students in the area of their interests.

ABOUT OUR FACULTY

The BMS course provides comprehensive management training by way of interactions, projects, presentations, industrial visits, practical training, job orientation and placements. It’s a perfectly designed course for aspiring managers and budding CEO’s of tomorrow. Faculties of our department aim to develop managers with a sense of passion, creativity and commitment.

Managers are perceived as perfectionists. They are expected to do the right things, at the right time and to see to it that others also do it right. Management studies is a course that provides insight into different filed of knowledge like Finance, Marketing and Human Relation Management. Students will learn about organisations, people behaviour, communication and employment relations which will connect them to the real World.
Department of Management studies expand to offer International Exposure to its students through International Conclave, International Case study and Workshops. We, believe in holistic education and take constant efforts to nurture the skills of the students and make them Industry ready through Value added Courses, Industry-Academia Interaction and Internship.

ELIGIBILITY

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the B.M.S. Degree Course shall have passed H.S.C. Examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination or Diploma in any Engineering branches with two years or three years duration after S.S.C. conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State or its equivalent examination by securing minimum 45% marks for general category (in one attempt) at the respective Examination and minimum 40% marks for the reserved category (in one attempt).

No college shall conduct any entrance test in any form and the admissions are purely based on merit duly following the reservation policy as per the norms of Government of Maharashtra.

While drawing the merit list, weightage has to be given to students from Arts, Commerce and Science Stream at 12th standard level. The stream wise weightage to be given is as under:

Stream and Percentage Commerce - 45% Arts - 25% Science - 25% Diploma in Engineering and Other - 5%

The applications are to be accepted and processed by the colleges stream wise separately and the merit list is to be displayed stream wise taking into account the reservation policy prescribed by the Government of Maharashtra.

  1. The merit list is to be prepared and displayed stream wise.
  2. In case if no applications are received under the “Diploma in Engineering and other Category” or if the seats remain vacant in “Diploma in Engineering and other Category” after all the merit lists/forms are exhausted, the vacant seats must be transferred to Commerce Stream.
  3. In case if no application is received from any stream the vacant seats are to be distributed equally between the remaining two streams only.
  4. After the first merit list is displayed, if any seat allotted to one stream remains vacant, the same shall be distributed equally between the remaining two streams. In case of vacancy in one stream is of single/odd number of seats, the single seat is to be allotted to the Commerce Stream. In case if no applications are available from the two streams, then all the vacant seats of such two streams must be transferred to the third stream.
  5. Step (d) be repeated for the subsequent merit lists till all the forms are exhausted or the final merit list is displayed, whichever is earlier

SIGNIFICANCE

BMS students are taught how to, and not what to think, and are encouraged to develop the quintessential skills of effective communication, motivation and group dynamics. The course aims to pursue knowledge hand in hand with the extra-curriculars with the aim of developing complete individuals with strong personal values. The three year (six semesters) BMS course aims at:

  1. Integrating industry interaction in the form of guest lectures, summer internships, field visits, live projects.
  2. Developing communication skills and team work skills through presentations and workshops.
  3. Encouraging community service projects to help sensitise students to their environment.
  4. Promoting faculty training and enhancement activities.
  5. Following a student-centric approach, thereby empowering students.
