The Department of B. Com (Financial Markets) offers a Professional Degree in the field of Financial Markets. It was established in 2014. The intake capacity is 60 students per year at various levels. It has a dedicated team of highly qualified faculty with a rich teaching & Industry experience.

These affiliations assist in organizing various professional events and for networking with the Industry so as to bridge the gap between Academia & Industry.

The Department conducts various Workshops, Seminars, Guest Lectures, Faculty Development Programs, and Industrial visits for the students as well as faculty members. The department has a dedicated computer laboratory equipped with high speed Internet. The Department has active linkages with Industry and Institutions of repute in India and abroad. An opportunity to understand the working BSE, NSE, RBI etc. is also provided to the Students by the Department. The students benefit from various internship and placement opportunities created by these linkages. The Department motivates the students to enhance their subject knowledge, technical skills, leadership skills, sports and co-curricular activity participation so as to develop their overall personality. The students of BFM Department have been successfully placed in Organizations of high repute.

The Department also conducts various Value-added Courses, Beyond Syllabus Activities & Personality Development Sessions for overall enrichment of Knowledge, Skills & abilities of the students.

The Department is also very active through the Commerce Associations which provides a platform to the students to showcase their talent through various competitions like Quiz, Debates, Business Plan Competitions, Poster Competitions, Case study competitions.

ABOUT OUR FACULTY

The Department of B.Com. (Financial Mrkets) has dedicated and eminent faculty with a blend of experienced dynamic faculty as well as young enthusiastic faculty members. The faculty members are well qualified and few of them are awarded Ph.D degree. Many faculty are pursuing Ph.D from various reputed Universities.

Our Faculty members are having expertise in various fields of specialization like Financial Markets, Accountancy, Commerce, Management, Taxation and Information Technology. Faculty members consistently take efforts to enrich knowledge by going beyond subject specialization. Many faculty are involved in Minor Research Projects funded by Mumbai University and Major Research Projects funded by Reputed Research Institution. Our faculty members have published research papers in National and International Journals.

Commerce is one course which aims at giving basic understanding about business with an ability to work with various practical dimensions of business, accounting and taxation. Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Markets) as a course gives insights about Capital Market and various aspects related to it. We at VSIT encourage our teachers to implement naïve approaches in order to make this subject even more interesting, and help students in achieving their goals easily.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (Banking & Insurance) degree course shall have passed XII std. Examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent and secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate at first attempt (40% in case of reserved category).
  2. Every candidate admitted to the degree course in the constituent/affiliated college/recognized institution, conducting the course, shall have to register himself/herself with the University.

SIGNIFICANCE

B.Com (Banking & Insurance) program provides an avenue from general education to professional education. The three year (six semesters) BBI degree aims at:

  1. To provide students the theoretical concepts, which is required to understand and dissect financial and business problems.
  2. To equip students with practical applications needed for financial analysis in their given area of study.
  3. To develop leaders for the business, government, and educational communities.
  4. To lead the Young students to promote the highest standard of ethics, education, and professional excellence for the ultimate benefit of society with creative mind in the field of Banking and Insurance
